Market Day 2008

Ron Peterson, the Market Barker, will "ring the Market" open at 9 a.m. Over 20 booths will be ready to serve you.

We are ordering more strawberries so maybe we will not run out until noon! They do go fast.

Rena Myers and Michelle Morgan will be at the Bedding and Hanging Plant booth and will be glad to answer any questions you have. Both are Master Gardeners and members of the Lakeway Area Master Gardener association. They will have several able assistants.

Aunt Hettie's Books will be selling gently used gardening books plus many others. This booth will be on the porch at Glenmore. Come find that special book you have been looking for.

Helen Lashier and volunteers will be manning the Members and Friends Plant booth. Helen is also a Master Gardener and several of her volunteers are also. They will be more than glad to tell you about the plants they will be selling.

The Herb Lady will conduct tours of the Glenmore Herb garden and will be glad to answer any questions you have regarding the cultivation and use of herbs. Jo Hatfield is the president of the Garden Thyme Herb Society. She will also have herbs for sale.

Victorian Flower Lady will be glad to tell you all about yourself by the kind and/or color of flower you choose. This is also where you sign up for a door prize.

Door prizes are beautiful fresh flower arrangement made by Gerry Hardy. We will be giving away four arrangements at 10, 11, 12, and 1. You must be present to win.

Tea Time Tent

The menu this year is a unique pasta chicken salad served on spring greens with veggie and cheese kabob and strawberry shortcake. Lunch is served from 11 to 1 and seating is limited so sign up early. Beverages and dessert are available from 9 to 2 at the Tea Time Tent.

Katie Shaw will be playing the lap dulcimer for your enjoyment during the lunch hours.

The Glenmore Bakery will also be open from 9 to 2 at the Tea Time Tent. There will be a variety of fresh baked goods for sale.

Gardening = Good Health

Lectures will take place starting at 9:30 in the Lecture Tent on the left hand side of the mansion. Included in the lectures will be Dr. Edie Wadsworth, who will present a program on "Herbs for Your Health," and Kim Whiston's program will be "Vegetable Container Gardening." Watch the newspapers and this Web site for additional speakers. The lectures are free.

Tours of Glenmore by Glenmore docents will start at 10 am and continue until 5 pm. Adults - $5 and children $3.

Glenmore Gift Shop will be open, and access is via the left side porch door.
